The rumors for Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s involvement in Holland’s Spider-man were started before the months of the release. When the image got leaked Andrew said “It’s not something that I’ve been asked about or anything like that but, you know, never say never.”
Apart from the film release Garfield told it was stressful and also weirdly enjoyable to lie his involvement in the film. Garfield said he thought keeping the secret would be better for Spider-Man fans and imagined himself in their shoes when finally watching the movie. “I would want the actor to do an incredibly good job at convincing me he wasn’t in it,” he explained. “And then I would want to lose my mind in the theater when my instinct was proven right. That’s what I would want.”
