Anthony Mackie To Return In Captain America 4

Anthony Mackie To Return

Anthony Mackie has signed a deal to play in Captain America 4 as Sam Wilson/ New Captain America, who will be seen on the big screen wielding the shield.

Over two years after Chris EvansSteve Rogers bid farewell to the character he inhabited for over a decade, it appears the MCU is finally getting around to the next episode in that wing of the series.

Anthony Mackie To Return

It’s a no-brainer to tap Mackie. An aging, time-hopping Steve Rogers handed his famous shield to his good friend Sam Wilson, nicknamed Falcon, played by Mackie, at the end of Avengers: Endgame. Wilson swapped positions in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, completely taking over the character. They even renamed the film “Captain America and the Winter Soldier” at the conclusion.

This is great news for Mackie, who has been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Captain America: The Winter Soldier in 2014. After Chadwick Boseman in Black Panther, he becomes the second Black actor to have his own Marvel stand-alone film, as opposed to one in which he shares the lead with multiple characters, as he did with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. All of this was probably inevitable, but it’s good to have it all in line.
