The new poster for Ari Aster‘s “Beau is Afraid,” starring Joaquin Phoenix in different ages between young and adult Beau, has been released. The first trailer will be released on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, according to the source. Take a look at the poster below.
During production, the film was titled Disappointment Blvd. Soon after the production wrapped, Aster revealed the official title of the film, “Beau is Afraid,” in December 2022. In the film, Phoenix plays Beau, an “extremely anxious but pleasant-looking man who has a fraught relationship with his overbearing mother and has never met his father.” He travels home with supernatural threats after his mother dies.
The film also stars Nathan Lane as Roger, Patti LuPone, Amy Ryan as Grace, Kylie Rogers as Toni, Parker Posey, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Denis Ménochet as Jeeves, Hayley Squires as Elaine, Michael Gandolfini, Zoe Lister-Jones, and Richard Kind.
Ari Aster wrote and directed the film, which he also produced with Lars Knudsen. Produced by A24 in the company’s third collaboration with Aster, after Hereditary (2018) and Midsommar (2019).
“Beau is Afraid” will hit theaters on April 2023.
