The first official trailer for ‘Armageddon Time’ starring Anne Hathaway, Jeremy Strong, and Anthony Hopkins revealed. The film is set in New York in the 1980s Reagan era as it explores the strength of family, the complexity of friendship and the generational pursuit of the American Dream. Watch the trailer below.
Directed by James Gray, which was inspired by his childhood upbringing in Queens, New York. The film stars Anne Hathaway as Esther Graff, Jeremy Strong as Irving Graff, Anthony Hopkins as Aaron, Michael Banks Repeta (credited as Banks Repeta) as Paul Graff, Jaylin Webb as Johnny, Ryan Sell as Ted Graff, Dane West as Topper Lowell, and Andrew Polk as Mr. Turkeltaub.
According to the Indiewire review from the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, Armageddon Time is a memorable story of a pre-pubescent Jewish boy named Paul Graff (Banks Repeta), the slightly older Black kid he meets on the first day of school in September 1980 (Jaylin Webb plays second-time sixth-grader Johnny Davis), and the semi-guileless friendship these two space cadets form on the strength of their mutual interests: rocket ships and fucking with their racist asshole of a homeroom teacher. It’s a story about the invisible fault lines of inequality, the moral compromises demanded by the American Dream, and the very practical ways in which remembering the past can be the only legitimate defense against the social forces that keep trying to repackage it as a vision of the future.
Armageddon Time will hit theaters on October 28, 2022.
