Avatar: The Way of Water’s $53M opening day and $130M–$150M three-day total will disappoint the box office media. $150 million to $175 million was projected. That’s well below Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s $121.9 million opening day and $260.1 million opening weekend, which were the second-highest ever.

The film stars Sam Worthington as Jake Sully, Zoe Saldaña as Neytiri, CCH Pounder as Mo’at, Jamie Flatters as Neteyam, Britain Dalton as Lo’ak, Trinity Bliss as Tuktirey, Sigourney Weaver as Kiri, Cliff Curtis as Tonowari, Kate Winslet as Ronal, and Bailey Bass as Tsireya and Stephen Lang as Recom Quaritch.
