The Avatar sequel is officially titled ‘Avatar: The Way of Water‘. Disney confirmed the title of Avatar’s sequel today during an event at CinemaCon 2022. directed by James Cameron. A teaser trailer for the film was shown in 3D, during Walt Disney Studio’s presentation for CinemaCon 2022 and launch officially on May 6, 2022, in line with the premiere of Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It will be released online the following week.
The plot details as revealed by Cameron in a statement to MONTREAL GAZETTE: “In the second and third films, which will be self-contained stories that also fulfill a greater story arc, we will not back off the throttle of Avatar’s visual and emotional horsepower, and will continue to explore its themes and characters, which touched the hearts of audiences in all cultures around the world. I’m looking forward to returning to Pandora, a world where our imaginations can run wild.”

The film stars Sam Worthington as Jake Sully, Zoe Saldana as Neytiri, CCH Pounder as Mo’at, Cliff Curtis as Tonowari, Jamie Flatters as Neteyam, Britain Dalton as Lo’ak, Trinity Bliss as Tuktirey, Bailey Bass as Tsireya, Filip Geljo as Aonung, Duane Evans Jr. as Rotxo, Kate Winslet as Ronal, and Keston John as Va’ru.
Avatar: The Way of Water will hit theaters on 16 December 2022.
