On the heels of the recent news about our movie “Batgirl,” I am proud of the love, hard work and intention all of our incredible cast and tireless crew put into this film over 7 months in Scotland.” she added I feel blessed to have worked among absolute greats and forged relationships for a lifetime in the process! To every Batgirl fan – THANK YOU for the love and belief, allowing me to take on the cape and become, as Babs said best, my own damn hero!
Batgirl for life! 🦇”
Deadline reported the reason for Batgirl cancelation, the cancellation of Batgirl was Warner Bros Discovery boss David Zaslav’s rejection of former WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar’s strategy, which involved a heavy emphasis on building streaming subscriptions for HBO Max through original content.
The is because of Warner Bros released Dune, Godzilla Vs Kong, King Richard and The Matrix Resurrections on HBO Max and received a low streaming records due to the pandemic.
The film was directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah from a screenplay by Christina Hodson, and starred Leslie Grace as Batgirl, alongside J. K. Simmons, Jacob Scipio, Brendan Fraser, and Michael Keaton. The filming took place in Glasgow, Scotland, from November 2021 to March 2022.
