Johnson’s anti-hero was supposed to debut in the 2019 film Shazam!, but the studio decided to make Black Adam his own picture during the pre-production process. However, Johnson has stated that the two characters would meet in a future film. Aside from the titular figure, Black Adam will also include the Justice Society of America, the Justice League’s forerunner (and, later, the Earth-Two version). Atom Smasher, aka Al Rothstein, Hawkman, aka Carter Hall, Cyclone, aka Maxine Hunkel, and Doctor Fate will represent the JSA at DC FanDome, with Hawkgirl being dropped from the lineup. Johnson’s character will also have a love interest in the shape of his wife Adrianna Tomaz, according to reports.
