Blonde is rated NC-17 for its graphic sexual content and will be released without any cuts on Netflix. The film follows “After a traumatic childhood, Norma Jeane Mortensen became an actress in the Hollywood of the 1950s and early 1960s. She became world famous under the pseudonym Marilyn Monroe (Ana de Armas). But her on-screen appearances are in stark contrast to the love issues, exploitation, abuse of power, and drug addiction she faced in her private life.”

In an interview with Vanity Fair France, Joyce Carol Oates told she was “very impressed” with Dominik’s screenplay “because he succeeded in adapting the tight and complex structure of (her) novel in a dramatic way.” She then watched a first version of the movie several months ago and said she was “very moved.”
“I had to stop and go away for a while and come back because I was emotionally drained. I was captivated by the actors performing,” said the author, who added that she doesn’t think a “male director has ever been so inserted in a female consciousness.”
Blonde will premiere on September 23, 2022, on Netflix.
