Chris Pratt has been cast as lasagna-loving in an animated ‘Garfield’ movie.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Garfield previously appeared on the big screen in live-action/animated hybrid Garfield in 2004 and its sequel, 2006’s Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties. both films are produced by 20th Century Fox, Bill Murray voiced the titular cat.
Pratt’s voice casting includes the Lego Movie films and Pixar’s Onward, as well as the upcoming Universal and Nintendo Super Mario Bros. animated blockbuster, in which he will portray Mario. The actor, who is managed by UTA, Rise Management, and Sloane Offer, was most recently featured in Amazon’s sci-fi film The Tomorrow War and will be seen in Jurassic World: Dominion in June.
The new Garfield is produced by Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson’s Alcon Entertainment and will be released globally (except China) by Sony Pictures. Mark Dindal (Chicken Little) is directing the script, which was written by Oscar nominee David Reynolds (Finding Nemo). The two previously collaborated on Disney’s The Emperor’s New Groove.
Garfield is an American comic strip created by Jim Davis. Originally published locally as Jon in 1976, then in national syndication from 1978 as Garfield, it chronicles the life of the title character, Garfield the cat; Jon Arbuckle, his human owner; and Odie, the dog.
