Last June, Michael Keaton revealed that he would be reprising his role as Batman for the first time in 30 years as part of The Flash. However, we’re now ten months later, with the Scarlet Speedster’s long-awaited solo debut due to begin filming soon, and the veteran actor recently cast doubt on his involvement. In a recent interview, Keaton revealed that he was concerned about traveling to England during a global pandemic, which is understandable given that the actor will turn 70 this year. Not only that but because it’s been almost a year since the news first broke, he cited his busy schedule as another explanation why he’s not certain he’ll be suiting up.
For the second time, reports are circulating that Warner Bros.’ Plan B is and try to entice Christian Bale back into the cape and cowl, which would obviously necessitate some kind of rewrite given that Christopher Nolan’s Caped Crusader is 22 years younger than Keaton, and also a year younger than Ben Affleck, making the latter the seasoned Batman of the piece.
