Clancy Brown, a veteran of the film industry, has recently joined the cast of John Wick: Chapter 4 at Lionsgate. Brown is a brilliant voice actor who has contributed his skills to a variety of franchises like SpongeBob and Star Wars Rebels, as well as numerous thrilling tours in DC. He has an amazing record of over 60 film credits to his name, including voicing Kurgan in the 1986 fantasy classic Highlander.
The John Wick franchise, which was created by screenwriter Derek Kolstad, stars Keanu Reeves as the titular assassin, whose return from retirement causes a series of violent shock waves across the underground group to which he previously belonged. Since the initial film’s release in 2014, the franchise has produced two further sequels, as well as a derivative film and a prequel television series in the works. With more than $587 million in worldwide box office receipts, Reeves has previously indicated that he is willing to continue portraying the character as long as the films are successful.
Brown has signed a deal with Lionsgate Films to contribute his extensive knowledge to the upcoming instalment of the John Wick franchise. Donnie Yen, Hiroyuki Sanada, Rina Sawayama, Bill Skarsgard, Scott Adkins, Shamier Anderson, Lance Reddick, and Ian McShane will feature Brown in the picture, which is now in production. The below is what director Chad Stahelski would just have to say about the current cast announcement:
I’ve been a Clancy Brown fan for as long as I can remember. Having him as part of this project is an honor. It will be a perfect complement to John Wick’s World!
It’ll be intriguing to see where Brown fits into John Wick’s burgeoning mythos, especially given the fictional universe’s fast expansion and the possibility of crossovers with Atomic and Anonymous. The famous action genre has swiftly grown from its origins as a basic vengeance film into a fictional universe that depicts an enormous and interesting criminal underworld ruled by its own set of laws. Brown, on the other hand, will undoubtedly fit into John Wick’s ultraviolent universe, given his predilection for portraying frightening characters.
Originally scheduled to be produced in tandem with a fifth feature, Lionsgate decided to postpone the production of Chapter 5 and instead begin John Wick: Chapter 4 on its own. It’s unclear if Brown’s character will live to see another sequel, or whether he’ll make a cameo in one of the spin-offs. In the meanwhile, fans will have to wait until May 2022 to figure out more when John Wick: Chapter 4 hits theatres.
