Just Hide: Cocaine Bear is coming
Universal Pictures released the first trailer for Cocaine Bear. The story of a black bear who eats multiple packages of cocaine and overdoses, becoming a mindless killer bear, is told in the film directed by Elizabeth Banks. Cocaine Bear is scheduled to hit theaters on February 24, 2023. Watch the trailer below.
Associated Press reported that the bear eat “several million dollars worth of the cocaine.” It contains 40 packages of cocaine, which is valued to be worth around $20 million. Gary Garner of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation told the outlet, “The bear got to it before we could, and he tore the duffel bag open, got him some cocaine and OD’d (overdosed).”

The film stars Keri Russell as Colette Matthews, O’Shea Jackson Jr. as Howard, Christian Convery-Jennings as Henry, Alden Ehrenreich as Marty, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Brooklynn Prince, Isiah Whitlock Jr. as Bob, Kristofer Hivju, Hannah Hoekstra, Margo Martindale, Ray Liotta as Dentwood, and Matthew Rhys.
According to the synopsis, “Inspired by the 1985 true story of a drug runner’s plane crash, missing cocaine, and the black bear that ate it, this wild thriller finds an oddball group of cops, criminals, tourists, and teens converging in a Georgia forest where a 500-pound apex predator has ingested a staggering amount of cocaine and gone on a coke-fueled rampage for more blow… and blood.”
A Twitter user, WTF Facts posted, In 1985, a drug smuggler threw $15M of cocaine from his airplane into a national forest in Georgia. The cocaine was found by a black bear who ate all of it, went on a rampage, and then died of a massive overdose. RIP “Pablo Eskobear”
Directed by Elizabeth Banks from a screenplay by Jimmy Warden. Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, Aditya Sood, Banks, Max Handelman, and Brian Duffield are producing.
Cocaine Bear will hit theaters on February 24, 2023.
