Daniel Dae Kim joined the cast of Netflix’s live-action series “Avatar: The Last Airbender”. Daniel will be portraying the role of Fire Lord Ozai. Lord Ozai is one of the main antagonists of Avatar.

According to TV Line, the platform’s version of the character is described as the “ruthlessly-driven leader of the Fire Nation who demands everyone live up to his impossible standards, especially his teen son, Prince Zuko”. Ozai’s desire to conquer and unify the globe under Firebender’s authority stems from his belief that it is his destiny to finish a battle begun by his forefathers. Mark Hamill provided the character’s voice in the animated series.

Kim has appeared in the series “Lost” and “Hawaii Five-O,” as well as films such as “Hellboy” and “The Divergent Series: Insurgent.” He previously portrayed General Fong in the animated series “Last Airbender,” as well as Hiroshi Sato in “The Legend of Korra,” which was a sequel to “Last Airbender.” Kim presently serves as an executive producer on ABC’s blockbuster medical drama “The Good Doctor,” in which he also stars.

Netflix officially ordered the live-action adaptation of “The Last Airbender” in September 2018. From February 2005 through July 2008, Nickelodeon broadcasted the animated version for three seasons. During its existence, the series gained widespread recognition, winning many Annie Awards, Genesis Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, and a Peabody Award. From 2012 through 2014, the successor series “Legend of Korra” aired for four seasons.
