Dave Callaham Stated The Work For ‘Into The Spider-Verse 2’ A Year Before The First Film Was Released

The Work For ‘Into The Spider-Verse 2’

All big comic book adaptations are built with sequels in mind, but Dave Callaham was well ahead of the curve when it came to getting Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 off the ground. Regardless of whether we’re talking animation or real action, the sequel to the Academy Award-winning original is universally recognized as one of the finest superhero films ever created.

Despite the fact that Callaham wasn’t even in the original film, with writing credit going to Phil Lord and Rodney Rothman has proven himself as one of the industry’s favourite characters to create blockbusters. The film was directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers & Justin Thompson.

Callaham revealed in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter that he had already begun writing the script for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2, which he is co-writing with Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, even before the film’s release in December 2018.

The sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is set to release in October 2022, but there have been few additional casting announcements so yet. That hasn’t stopped the endless speculations, but at least we know Callaham has had plenty of time to get things back in shape, and Lord and Miller are two of the finest comedy directors working today, so a sequel is on the way. Very capable hands.
