The Killer: Tilda Swinton Has Joined The Cast

The Killer,” starring Michael Fassbender and directed by David Fincher, was slated to film this fall in Paris with Oscar-winning “Mank” cinematographer Erik Messerschmidt behind the camera. That has altered significantly, but we finally have confirmation of something we’ve been hearing about for months: Tilda Swinton will appear in the assassin thriller based on a French graphic novel series.

“The Killer” is based on Alexis Nolent’s graphic novel series of the same name, and follows a cold-blooded assassin (Fassbender) who develops a psychological crisis in a world devoid of the moral compass (fun fact: this is not the same as Andrew Kevin Walker’s “The Killers,” which is a completely different screenplay and film). Although this is the first official Fincher/Andrew Kevin Walker collaboration since “Seven,” the two filmmakers have been in close touch since then: Walker has done several uncredited rewrites on Fincher films and conceived a number of projects for him that never saw the light of day, including “The Girl Who Played with Fire,” yep, Fincher’s unmade “Dragon Tattoo” sequel, and “20,000 Leagues Under The Sea.”
