DC will release an animated ‘Injustice’ film.

DC will release an animated – Injustice: God Among Us, which was released in April 2013, is a Mortal Kombat-style fighting game that pits DC heroes and villains against each other in combat. Unlike the DC comics, Injustice depicts a reality in which Superman goes insane after killing Lois Lane by mistake, causing Batman to enlist the help of heroes from all around the Multiverse to stop him. A prequel comic series to Injustice was also released digitally.Joker tricks Superman into killing Lois Lane and mistakenly destroying Metropolis with a nuclear bomb in the video games. Following that, Superman becomes a tyrant, and Batman becomes the resistance’s commander in an attempt to overthrow Superman’s dictatorship.

The story is, of course, the source of Zack Snyder’s “Knightmare” segments in Batman V Superman and his edit of Justice League. In the film version, Lois’s death at Darkseid’s hands and Batman’s failure to stop it make Superman vulnerable to the Anti-Life Equation, turning him into Darkseid’s puppet as he takes control of the Earth. In the film’s events, Batman is once again leading the resistance, even forming alliances with villains to oppose Superman.

Now since it’s doubtful that Snyder’s Justice League 2 will be released anytime soon to see how this tale ends, the Injustice animated film will be the closest we’ll come to Snyder’s vision for the DC apocalypse.
