The news comes as the R-rated anime nears the end of a successful North American theater run. Since its April 23 release, the picture has grossed over $48 million in the United States and Canada. Demon Slayer the Movie: Mugen Train is the biggest-earning anime film of all time, grossing over $500 million globally, in addition to having the highest foreign-language debut in U.S. box office history with $34.1 million. With a gross of $395.58 million, Spirited Away is a distant second. Demon Slayer the Movie: Mugen Train is also the most successful film in Japanese box office history.
