Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is undergoing major reshoots. The new shooting taking place in Los Angeles. with new writing material and working 6 days a week for the next 6 weeks.

According to the THR, The Insiders say that Cumberbatch and company are undertaking six weeks of shooting, if not more, working six days a week. Sam Raimi remains as helmer, and Loki head writer Michael Waldron is still on board writing the new material. It is unclear what actors in addition to Cumberbatch are involved. The crew involved is familiar with the Marvel method and worked on recent pickups for the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home and additional shooting for next year’s Oscar Isaac series, Moon Knight.

On the reshoots, Sam Raimi will continue to direct, while Michael Waldron (who previously wrote Loki) will write the new sequences. The reshoot team is claimed to include Marvel regulars who previously worked on Spider-Man: No Way Home and Moon Knight pick-ups.

There are two reasons for the lengthy reshoots. Due to actor availability, two weeks of production were reportedly delayed from the intended shot and will now be filmed inside this block. The production is also claimed to be catching up after being bogged down by pandemic-related issues during the initial shot.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is scheduled to hit the theaters on 6 May 2022.
