Dustin Poirier is in line for a title chance in the UFC…but he appears to be on the lookout for Nate Diaz

After Dustin Poirier defeated Conor McGregor for the second time at UFC 264 (see it here), it was all but certain that “The Diamond” would have the first crack at dethroning current Lightweight champion Charles Oliveira.

Oliveira even stated that he would defend his 155-pound belt in December. And, while he stated that he feels he can submit Poirier, he didn’t explicitly state that he’ll be defending the championship against him, despite all indications to the contrary.

Poirier, on the other hand, recently made waves on social media with a simple tweet that said “Nathan?” It’s a clear dig at Nate Diaz, a man with whom Poirier has a history, despite the fact that they’ve never had the opportunity to settle it inside the Octagon. Poirier has tried numerous times to reschedule the fight, but why look for it now when he has a title match all but locked up?

Of course, the tweet might be interpreted in a variety of ways.

Poirier is well-known for passing up the chance to compete for the vacant Lightweight title in favor of a trilogy battle with “Notorious,” which paid him significantly more than a championship bout with Oliveira.
