Emilia Jones & Nicholas Braun Will Star In The Psychological Thriller 'Cat Person'

Nicholas Braun, best known for his Emmy-nominated performance as Greg in Succession, is collaborating with Emilia Jones, who was most recently seen in Locke & Key and Sundance winner Coda, on the psychological thriller Cat Person, which is based on Kristen Roupenian’s short story, which was famously published in The New Yorker in 2017 to worldwide acclaim. The New Yorker’s Cat Person was the year’s most downloaded fiction and one of the year’s most widely read articles overall.

Susanna Fogel (The Flight Attendant, The Spy Who Dumped Me, Booksmart) directs from a story by Michelle Ashford, and the picture is produced by StudioCanal and Imperative Entertainment (Masters of Sex, The Pacific, Operation Mincemeat). StudioCanal will fully fund and begin international sales at the Virtual Cannes Market, with 30WEST handling the US rights.

Jeremy Steckler of Imperative Entertainment (The Mule, The Square, Late Night) will produce Cat Person in collaboration with 30WEST, who secured the finance.

Cat Person will explore the hellscape of modern romance and the idea that we have all been the villain in someone else’s story, and the victim in others, using Kristen’s excruciatingly well-observed short story about the horrors of dating as the jumping-off point for an actual genre film,” said Fogel.
