The filming of “Emilia Perez,” starring Selena Gomez, Zoe Saldaña, and Karla Sofa Gascón, will begin in April 2023. It was previously set to shoot in Mexico but will now be filmed in a studio near Paris.
The film is directed by Jacques Audiard, he co-wrote the screenplay with Thomas Bidegain, who collaborated on Audiard’s most successful films, including “A Prophet” and the Palme d’Or winner “Dheepan.”
According to Variety, The filming was delayed by six months due to schedule difficulties with cast members and will now begin in April. Why Not Productions and Page 114 collaborated on this project. International sales are handled by The Veterans, Vincent Maraval, and Kim Fox. CAA Media Finance represents areas in North America. It was originally scheduled to film in Mexico, but will now take place at a studio near Paris, per Audiard’s wish.

Gascón, an Argentine trans actor on the rise, will play a feared, on-the-run Mexican cartel leader who undergoes a sex change to avoid capture and become the woman he’s always wanted to be.
Gomez just began filming Season 3 of Hulu’s original series Only Murders in the Building. She shared footage of Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Paul Rudd. The series will debut on Hulu in late 2023.
