Chavez was taken in by the Santana family who was just trying to have a nice day at the beach and they raised her in Washington heights America unable to remember the mama drama trauma created a fairytale past where she was a princess from another dimension the daughter of heroic queens who gave their lives to protect the multiverse, oh man that one got me while growing up America couldn’t hide her powers super speed super strength interdimensional energies that allow her to fly and punch portals and did I mention she’s bilingual so eventually, she had to answer the call to become a superhero first she joined the teen brigade a group of young superheroes given strong hacker vibes then she became the muscle and the snark in the young avengers, where she met her bestie kate bishop aka the best hawkeye who obviously recruited her for the west coast Avengers in LA. But not before America got to try out grown-up teams like these supercharged ultimates and the all-woman Avengers group a force and of course, she took a little detour to attend college at SOTA mayor interdimensional university I hear it’s the best college in the multiverse and between all of these teams and adventures she even found time for a love like with emergency med tech Lisa Holleran and later with west coast avenger alloy but America’s not really looking for anything too serious right. now when America returned to new york she was reunited with her sister Catalina who filled her in on her forgotten past and a whole lot of stuff started to make sense except why her sister was so evil but that got dealt with in its own way.

As part of the spring 2022 issue of D23 magazine (via The Direct), Xochitl Gomez said she didn’t realize she was auditioning for Doctor Strange 2 at first, and that she had to wait months to hear back. read below:

“In March 2020, I had my first self-tape audition, and it was for an unknown Marvel project. I didn’t hear anything for a long time. Then, I got a call in August to tape again, but with completely new fake sides [script excerpts] and a new fake character name.

“A week later, I got a call from my agent who said that I was pinned, which means they’re very serious about you. A few days after that, I got an offer to screen test in London. I had about 10 days to get my passport ready and got on a plane.

“I looked around and there were four cameras and like 80 crew members. It was a real, working film set. Most screen tests aren’t like that. It was scary because that was the first time I met Benedict [Cumberbatch]. I was so nervous to do a scene with him. But he was super nice, and so were Sam [Raimi] and Richie [Palmer]. As intimidating as it was, everyone made me feel welcome.”
