Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has stated that a Fantastic Four cast announcement is not imminent.
“I don’t believe it’s going to happen anytime soon,” he told ET Online. “This is our first red carpet event in two years [the Black Widow premiere]. We’ll see what occurs at forthcoming meetings and fan events where we’ll be able to provide additional information. I’m hoping in the near future.”
The MCU’s version of Marvel’s First Family will be the heroic team’s third incarnation in recent years. Future Captain America Chris Evans played as the Human Torch in the first Fantastic Four film, which also featured Jessica Alba as the Invisible Woman, Ioan Gruffudd as Mister Fantastic, Michael Chiklis as the Thing, and Julian McMahon as Doctor Doom. Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer saw the cast return for the sequel.
The Fantastic Four returned in 2015, with Miles Teller (Whiplash), Kate Mara (House of Cards), Michael B. Jordan (Killmonger), and Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot) as Mister Fantastic, the Invisible Woman (House of Cards), and Michael B. Jordan (Killmonger) as the Human Torch, and Toby Kebbell (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) as Doctor Doom.
The Fantastic Four characters used to be part of the Fox side of the Marvel world, but now that Disney has acquired the business, they may finally join the MCU — along with the X-Men, but no plans for mutants to join the MCU have been disclosed yet.
