Fireberg Releases Club Edit of ‘Bloom’ On The Resilient Mishbaka Imprint

Hot off the back of his latest EP ‘Call of the Phoenix,’ Fireberg returns with the ‘Bloom’ Club Edit. A timely tune that instantly engages with trademark elements of early house mixed with modernist organic production. The Club Edit serves to complement and breathe new life into the prior released versions, the Original Mix and the Dub Reprise, forming a package that serves a myriad of niche varieties in the electronic music world.

The Original Mix instantly lifts the vibe as Fireberg takes us directly into the dreamy and introspective space, oscillating between the realms of the chillout space and the dancefloor with adept skill. The chopped Motown vocals evoke a classic deep house sound that stoutly enchants us as the track unwinds. The bridge provides a homage to the sounds of early dub with its round, tubby bassline and inspiring melodica solo.

The Club Edit then delivers what could only be termed an autumn anthem for the dancefloor. This welcomed addition showcases the enduring talent of Fireberg and reflects that he clearly has no intention of slowing down on the delivery of impactful songs that explore a range of forms and functions, from deep house cuts that fit the dancefloor through to more relaxed and ambient occasions.

Rolling in at 125 BPM, complete with a classic FM bassline and underpinned by a variety of percussive electric piano sounds, the track maintains a steady beat while keeping things unpredictable. The producer’s falsetto voice makes a  prominent and sustained appearance in this mix. Expect a simple two-chord Wurlitzer electric piano progression, a sprinkling of colorful, percussive Rhodes parts throughout the leads, all interspersed with meticulously orchestrated yet dirty-sounding, vintage synths. The chorus is a stark contradiction with its jazzy, gospel organ interpolation a la Al Green. The main melodic lead synth that’s voiced by the Prophet 600 enhances the song, along with the oddly bachata-derived bongo part that enters intermittently with great interest and tastefulness.

The Bloom Club Edit concludes the trio of versions and lands alongside the Original and Dub Reprise all with their own edge and personality.

Fireberg originally rose in the mid-2000s as a vehicle for Dan Berg’s expression of cybernetic sound. His early works from 2014-2017 charted a gradual approach to dance music, often alongside collaborators. As the project solidified its direction, maintaining its roots within jazz and improvisation, the sound further developed. Citing an ambient collaboration with visual artist Basia Goszcznska with ‘Passage from Gaumukh: Music for the Rainbow Cave’, which emerged in 2020 and deepened his thematic outlook while engaging ideas around ecological and social purity and contamination, a proposition began to form. 2020 also brought his strongest solo work to date with the Undoing the Future EP on Eyedillic music. This cemented his ascension towards the dancefloor with an artistic flair that remains today.
