Conor McGregor was given a six-month suspension after fracturing his leg in a UFC 264 fight against Dustin Poirier. Following his horrific leg break, McGregor has been ruled out until January due to medical reasons. McGregor was knocked out in the first round of the Las Vegas fight after his ankle appeared to slip out from beneath him in the midst of the fight. McGregor has undergone surgery and has promised supporters that he would return stronger after the procedure, paving the way for an epic fourth battle between the two.
There’s no question a desire for a fourth fight, with McGregor dissatisfied with the manner of his defeat and Poirier still carrying grudges against the Dubliner. With the winner of last weekend’s bout set to face lightweight king Charles Oliveira, Dana White and the UFC may choose to move on and focus on the division’s future rather than revisiting the seven-year-old rivalry.
