For UFC 268, Gilbert Burns calls out Nate Diaz and proposes a handsome side bet

Gilbert Burns is attempting to capitalise on his recent decision victory over Stephen Thompson at UFC 264, which includes a special reference to Nate Diaz. Burns has been looking for his next big fight since suffocating “Wonderboy” with grappling at UFC 264 and returning to the win column following a TKO loss to UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. He went after fellow welterweight contender Leon Edwards first before focusing on Diaz on Friday.

Nate Diaz

It is unknown at this time if Diaz is even interested in a matchup with Burns, but it’s a fight that could put him right back in the mix at 170 pounds. Remember, Diaz is coming off a five-round loss to Edwards this past June. Diaz nearly finished “Rocky” in the fifth round but ultimately came up short to drop his second-consecutive fight.

If the organisation is successful in putting this welterweight bout together, the next UFC 268 PPV card will become one of the most anticipated events of the year. A welterweight title rematch between Usman and top rival Colby Covington is slated to headline the show, as well as a lightweight contest between Justin Gaethje and Michael Chandler. It would be ridiculous to add Burns vs. Diaz to that lineup.
