The adaptation of Isaac Asimov’s iconic sci-fi trilogy Foundation is available on Apple TV+. The series stars Lee Pace (Marvel’s Guardians of the Cosmos) and Jared Harris (The Expanse, Chernobyl) and is set in a future where humanity has conquered the galaxy. The emperor (Pace) tries to suppress one guy (Harris) who predicts the empire’s demise. David S. Goyer, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Marcy Ross, and Robyn Asimov serve as executive producers on the series.
In 2020, Apple released the first Foundation trailer. Due to a manufacturing halt caused by the coronavirus epidemic, we haven’t gotten an update in a long time. Despite this, the series is still scheduled to premiere in 2021.
From 1942 until 1950, Asimov published Foundation as eight short tales in Astounding Magazine. The first four short tales were subsequently rewritten into a trilogy of fixup books, which began in 1951 with the release of Foundation, which was made up of the first four short pieces. The remaining four were shared between Foundation and Empire in 1952 and Second Foundation in 1953.
Foundation was resurrected by Asimov in 1982 with the novel Foundation’s Edge, and again in 1986 with Foundation and Earth. He then used the prequels Prelude to Foundation in 1988 and Forward the Foundation in 1993 to tie Foundation to his other major science fiction novels, the Robot series and the Galactic Empire series.
