Garfield starring Chris Pratt and Samuel L. Jackson has been delayed to May 24, 2024. Previously, the film was previously slated to release on February 16, 2024. On September 16, Sony changed the release schedule for their upcoming projects.
Garfield is based on the Jim Davis comic strip of the same name. Garfield is a character with round-bodied, orange, and black tabby cat who frequently stands on two feet and communicates via cartoon “thought bubbles” (as opposed to “speech balloons,” which are understood to be heard out loud). He loves eating fatty foods—especially lasagna—and causing trouble. His bland human companion, Jon Arbuckle, often acts as a straight man for Garfield. The other animal in the house is Odie, a small yellow beagle who is energetic and lovable but dim-witted.
The film stars Chris Pratt as Garfield, Samuel L. Jackson as Vic, Garfield’s father, Nicholas Hoult, Ving Rhames, Hannah Waddingham, and Cecily Strong.
John Cohen, Steven P. Wegner, Andrew Kosove, Broderick Johnson, Tom Jacomb, and Namit Malhotra are producing. Sony Pictures will be distributing the film. Produced by Columbia Pictures, Alcon Entertainment in their first animated film, and DNEG Animation.
