Netflix renewed Yeon Sang Ho’s Hellbound for a season 2 during Netflix’s TUDUM event. With the announcement, an official teaser trailer for ‘Hellbound’ Season 2 was dropped. Check out the trailer below.
Hellbound is based on his own webtoon of the same name. It is developed by Yeon Sang-ho for Netflix. The series stars Yoo Ah-in, Kim Hyun-joo, Park Jeong-min, Won Jin-ah, and Yang Ik-june. Hellbound takes place from 2022–27 in South Korea. An otherworldly face called an angel suddenly starts to materialize to deliver prophecies called decrees that condemn certain individuals to Hell at a specific future time, either seconds or years away. Three hulking supernatural monsters appear at almost the exact time to maul and incinerate the person’s body in a sort of spectacular show of force called a demonstration. Two organizations in cahoots, the cult-like New Truth Society and the gang-like Arrowhead group gain power by playing on people’s fears.
‘Hellbound’ Season 1 premiered in November 2021. It’s almost a year since fans are waiting to hear renewal news from the streamers. The show became one of the most-watched Netflix series, surpassing Squid Game.
Speaking to Variety, creator of the show Yeon Sang-ho told, “During the process of planning and creating the cartoon for “Hellbound,” we did talk about wanting to create a live-action series. However, the webtoons started to [stream] on the platform when I was actually shooting the film “Peninsula.” Before that, we had just been talking about [a live-action series], but after [the webtoon] began on the platform, Netflix and I began to discuss creating it into a live series.”
‘Hellbound’ Season 2 release date is TBA.
