Hugh Jackman, who retired from playing the Wolverine character around 17 years is returning in the upcoming ‘Deadpool 3’ starring Ryan Reynolds. The official announcement was made by Reynolds through his social media handle. In the clip, Reynolds asks Jackman “Hey, Hugh, you want to play Wolverine one more time?” Hugh replied “Yeah, sure, Ryan.” and next the Deadpool 3 logo appears with Wolverine scratching on the logo. Deadpool 3 is scheduled to hit theaters on September 6, 2024. Shawn Levy, who had previously worked with Reynolds on Free Guy and The Adam Project will be directing Deadpool 3 from a screenplay penned by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. The film writers already revealed that the film will be R-rated.
Jackman and Reynolds’ combo first appeared in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), after that in 2016, Deadpool’s character received a spin-off in the X-Men film series. Ryan Reynolds plays the role of Wade Wilson / Deadpool. The film grossed $782 million worldwide with R-rated content.
Deadpool 3 also stars Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T. J. Miller, Gina Carano, and Brianna Hildebrand.
Deadpool 3 will hit theaters on September 6, 2024.
