'I Wanna Dance with Somebody' New Trailer

Sony released a new trailer for ‘I Wanna Dance with Somebody‘ starring Naomi Ackie as American pop icon Whitney Houston. In the trailer, Ackie transformed completely into Houston, where she strives to the initial public criticism for her music “wasn’t Black enough.” also told My whole life, she ain’t Black enough, she’s ain’t White enough. Well, how about she’s not obedient enough? How about she ain’t fearful enough? Music is not a color to me, it has no boundaries. I sing what I want to sing, be how I want to be, and reach as big an audience as I can.” Watch the trailer below.

Directed by Kasi Lemmons from a screenplay written by Anthony McCarten, and Houston’s former record producer Clive Davis. he also serves as the producer.

Back in May, Ackie told ET Online about portraying the role of Houston was “doing the work” to prepare for the massive role. she told, “I’m going to try my best because that woman — it sends shivers down my spine how much she means to me, the world, Black women, African American women.” Ackie added, “I’m going to throw my everything into making sure she is represented properly.”

The film also stars Ali Asghar Shah as Ali, Stanley Tucci as Clive Davis, Ashton Sanders as Bobby Brown, Tamara Tunie as Cissy Houston, Nafessa Williams as Robyn Crawford, and Clarke Peters as John Houston.

‘I Wanna Dance with Somebody’ will hit theaters on December 23, 2022.
