This week, Pokemon Go turned a year old and a billion dollars richer, according to a new study from Sensor Tower, which commemorated the game’s fifth anniversary with an amazing milestone. The Niantic-developed game has earned $5 billion in the five years since it first appeared on iOS and Android. On average, Pokemon Go earns $1 billion every year, putting it far ahead of the genre of mobile geolocation augmented reality games.Pokemon Go may have had its best-ever start to a year, according to Sensor Tower’s data, with revenue up 34% in the first half of the year compared to 2020.
When it comes to the countries that have generated the greatest lifetime income for the game, the United States takes the lead with 36.6 percent of lifetime player expenditure ($1.9 billion), followed by Japan with 32 percent and Germany with 5.4 percent. Google Play has the lion’s share of the 632 million downloads, accounting for 77 percent of all installs, or around 487 million downloads. Although the App Store only accounts for 23% of total installations, 144.8 million downloads are still a significant quantity.
