Peter B. Parker, played by actor Jake Johnson, is set to return in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2. After being bitten by a radioactive spider, Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) inherits the Spider-Man identity in Sony’s 2018 animated superhero film. If that wasn’t enough, Kingpin opens portals to alternative dimensions in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, bringing multiple versions of Spider-Man into Miles’ world. Peter B. Parker, the sweatpants-wearing, overweight, and jaded hero who becomes Miles’ mentor, is perhaps the most relatable of these “Spider-Man.”
Peter’s faith in the superhero role is restored as a result of his journey with Miles; as a result, he departs Miles’ reality with the purpose of repairing things at the conclusion of the film. Johnson introduced his uniquely humorous and emotional demeanor to New Girl’s Nick Miller as Peter B. Parker. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 began development last year, with the multiverse premise from Into the Spider-Verse being adopted by every superhero-related company. Miles and Spider-relationship Gwen’s is believed to be the focus of the sequel (Hailee Steinfeld).
Johnson gave an update on Peter B. Parker’s condition. Negotiations are going well, according to the actor, and he should be voicing the role again in the Spider-Verse sequel.
“I’ve been working on a contract,” he said. “I believe Peter B. Parker is making a return…All I know is that I heard nothing for the longest time and I was very sad. I really loved playing Peter B. Parker. I would like to know what happens with Peter B. Parker. I think the way his journey ended in the first movie was very open-ended. So, when I got word that they were working on a deal or figuring it all out, I thought I truly can’t wait to see what the writers came up with.”
Johnson, Moore, and Steinfeld, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 will likely feature Issa Rae as Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman and Oscar Issac as Miguel O’Hara/Spider-Man 2099, as set up by the original film’s post-credits sequence. The sequel, which will be released on October 7, 2022, will be executive produced by Peter Ramsey, who directed the first film. There are even rumors of a TV spinoff, which would give Johnson even more chances to reprise his character in the future.
