Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom could be the last film James Wan will direct as the hero. “There’s a reason I don’t do three movies in the same series. It would be lucky if I did a sequel. And after that, I get bored. I want to do something different.”

Filming on the sequel to Aquaman began a few weeks ago. Furthermore, actor Jason Momoa recently confirmed his transfer to the United Kingdom to join the film’s production crew. Although no official information about the film has been released, director James Wan has hinted that it may be the final one he does with the character.

The director isn’t a big fan of sequels. He has always said that he avoids them, but he has done so on rare instances, such as in “Insidious: Chapter 2” and “The Warren File: The Enfield Case,” which is why his comeback for the continuation of “Aquaman,” formally titled “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” was so unexpected.

The filmmaker discussed his return to the DC world after directing the first picture, as well as his involvement as a producer on the animated miniseries “Aquaman: King of Atlantis” in a promotional interview for “Malignant.” It’s uncommon for him to get to do three films in a trilogy, he says in this interview conducted when “The Lost Kingdom” is in development.
