Warner Bros Discovery has revealed that the Joker sequel Joker: Folie À Deux will be released in theaters on October 4, 2024. Todd Phillips will be directing the film, he co-wrote the screenplay with Scott Silver.
The film stars Joaquin Phoenix in the titular role alongside Lady Gaga, Uma Thurman, Dante Pereira-Olson, and Jack Nicholson.
Joker 2 was produced by Warner Bros. Pictures, DC Films, and Joint Effort, in association with Bron Creative and Village Roadshow Pictures, and distributed by Warner Bros.
Joker grossed $335.4M globally and it is the highest-grossing R-rated movie ever at $1.07 billion. Joker won two Oscars: Best Actor for star Joaquin Phoenix and Original Music Score for Hildur Guðnadóttir’s. The movie was nominated for 11 Oscars including Best Picture and Phillips for Best Director.
