To honor John Hammond’s (Richard Attenborough) dying wish, a new theme park was built in its place two decades after Jurassic Park was demolished. When an artificial dinosaur, the Indominus rex, is freed from its containment in the first Jurassic World film, tourists and personnel at the park are scared. The dinosaurs from the abandoned park on Isla Nublar are left to their own devices in the sequel, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. When a volcano threatens the animals’ life, Claire and Owen take them to Sir Benjamin Lockwood’s manor, Hammond’s former business partner. Lockwood’s granddaughter Maisie frees the captive dinosaurs to save them from a gas leak, triggering a “neo-Jurassic Age” in which dinosaurs have re-entered the world in the third film.
Claire’s realism and love for dinosaurs coexist, creating an internal ethical problem that causes her to make inconsistent judgments despite her brilliance. Owen has the same problem: they’re both idealists who believe in animals’ fundamental rights, but they’re also clever enough to see that if people are to be protected, those creatures can’t be permitted to walk free. In Jurassic World: Dominion, Claire may have to put her feelings aside and join the fight in a world where dinosaurs suddenly hold the upper hand.
Jurassic World: Dominion will hit the theaters on June 10, 2022.
