Netflix released the trailer for Kenya Barris’ ‘You People’ starring Eddie Murphy, Jonah Hill, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Lauren London. The modern rom-com follows Ezra and Amira as they navigate the treacherous waters that link family and romance. Watch the trailer below.
The film also stars Sam Jay, Elliott Gould, Travis Bennett, Molly Gordon, Rhea Perlman, Deon Cole, Andrea Savage, Mike Epps, Emily Arlook, Alani La La Anthony, and Bryan Greenberg.
Directed by Kenya Barris from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jonah Hill. produced by Barris and Hill. Kevin Misher serves as a producer alongside Hill and Murphy, with David Hyman, Matt Dines, Hale Rothstein, Alison Goodwin, Mychelle Deschamps, Andy Berman, and Charisse Hewitt-Webster serving as executive producers.
In an interview with Netflix, Lauren London told that getting to highlight her favorite childhood hotspots was part of the magic of filming You People. “My favorite location was Simply Wholesome.” she added, “Growing up in LA, I used to walk to Simply Wholesome and grab a patty or a smoothie. Being inside a Black establishment that promotes wellness and health in the heart of our community, and that business is highlighted and shown in a big-budget film, that was very special.”
You People will premiere on Jan. 27 on Netflix.
