According to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, the next MCU films will contain more extraterrestrial worlds. While the MCU began with earthbound characters like Iron Man and the Hulk, the cosmic aspect of the world began to be hinted at with the debut of Thor. The Avengers’ extraterrestrial invasion paved the way for films like Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor: Ragnarok, and Captain Marvel to take the MCU in a more cosmic direction.
Worlds beyond Earth have been explored in several MCU films. Audiences have been transported to Xandar, the homeworld of the Nova Corps in Guardians of the Galaxy, the Kree homeworld of Hala in Captain Marvel, and even the planet Vormir in Avengers: Infinity War, outside of the nine worlds of the Thor universe. Ego, the Living Planet was even featured as the major enemy in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The cosmic element of the MCU will be further explored in the upcoming Eternals, which will star the Celestials, the cosmic creators.
In an interview with Collider, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige stated that the MCU would feature numerous new extraterrestrial worlds. They will be shown before and after the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
“It is called the universe after all, and I think audiences now are very comfortable going to strange planets with us. So we certainly will continue to do that before Guardians 3 and after Guardians 3.”
There’s no information on which planets will be investigated, although there are a number of films that may focus on extraterrestrial worlds. While Eternals will focus on Earth’s past, a sequel might include additional extraterrestrial worlds. Thor: Love and Thunder are based on Jason Aaron’s Thor comic series, which takes place on a variety of exotic planets. The species and name of Christian Bale’s character Gorr the God Butcher are unknown, therefore they will most likely be revealed in the sequel.
Marvel Studios now has access to many intergalactic characters and places connected with the Fantastic Four and the X-Men. thanks to the purchase of 20th Century Fox. Because renowned X-Men writer Chris Claremont notoriously repurposed a lot of his cosmic concepts from his Carol Danvers led Ms. Marvel comic into his X-Men stories, The Shi’ar Empire might be addressed in a forthcoming Marvel film, probably The Marvels. Zenn-La, the homeworld of Norin Radd, nicknamed the Silver Surfer, might possibly be seen in a future Fantastic Four film. Galactus isn’t far behind where the Silver Surfer is. In a nutshell, the MCU’s cosmic possibilities appear to be limitless.
