Kirsten Dunst refutes rumors that she will appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Following Eternals, Spider-Man: No Way Home is the next film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film, which is set to hit cinemas next month, will be the third and maybe last MCU standalone feature based on the iconic web-slinger. Tom Holland reprises his role as Peter Parker in what might be his most ambitious project yet. Spider-Man: No Way Home will continue Marvel’s multiverse investigation by allowing prior Spider-Man actors to appear in the MCU. Almost every actor involved in either Sam Raimi’s trilogy or Sony’s Amazing Spider-Man films has been reported to appear in No Way Home, but only a few have been verified. Fans are still waiting for official confirmation that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will return, despite multiple reports indicating that they will. Marvel and Sony have been careful not to say anything, despite numerous leaks indicating that they will.

Maguire was in negotiations to return in Spider-Man: No Way Home late last year, according to a source, and he would be reunited by Dunst. It would make sense to reunite Dunst and Maguire because she is Mary Jane Watson to Maguire’s Peter.

Interview a recent interview with Total Film (via The Direct), Dunst shut down the rumors that say she’ll appear in the MCU movie. She said:

“I’m not in that movie, no [laughs]. I know there’s rumors, right?… No, I’m the only one [not in it]. ‘Can’t put an old girl in there!”

This is a strategy that No Way Home’s speculated cast members have followed in the past. Emma Stone, who plays Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man, has confirmed that she will not be appearing in the film, as has Andrew Garfield. In fact, Garfield’s declaration that he had no role in Spider-Man: No Way Home has sparked a larger debate over whether or not the completed result would disappoint fans. It’s normal for Marvel actors to keep their impending parts under wraps in order to avoid spoilers, but this film has been a whole new beast in terms of MCU secrecy.
