Lin Manuel-Miranda’s ‘Vivo’ A musical outline of Netflix. Miranda rose to prominence as the composer and lyricist for the Tony Award-winning Broadway musicals In the Heights and Hamilton. Miranda ushered in a global sensation with Hamilton, in which he used hip hop music to tell the tale of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton. While Disney+ released a film adaptation of Hamilton last year, Warner Bros. will release a traditional film adaptation of In the Heights in June. Check out the trailer below

Fans can go no farther than Vivo for Miranda’s most recent original works. The Sony Pictures Animation feature is set to premiere on Netflix later this year. The film stars Miranda as Vivo, a musically gifted kinkajou who spends his days entertaining the people of Havana with his master Andrés (Juan de Marcos González). When tragedy happens, Vivo must go with Gabi (Ynairaly Simo), a lively preteen, to deliver a message to Andrés’ girlfriend Marta Sandoval (Gloria Estefan).

Kirk DeMicco is the director of Vivo. Several previous Miranda colleagues are involved in the project, including Quiara Alegra Hudes (who co-wrote the script with DeMicco) and composer Alex Lacamoire. Zoe Saldana, Brian Tyree Henry, and Nicole Byer all provide vocals to the film.
