Lisa Kudrow and Lady Gaga will duet ‘Smelly Cat’ together in HBO Max’s ‘FRIENDS’ reunion.

Lady Gaga joins Kudrow on the song “Smelly Cat” for a duet. “I asked Lisa whether she would be willing to sing it.’ And she said, ‘Yeah, it would be great,'” says the author. Winston, who is also a co-executive producer on “The Late Late Show With James Corden,” remembers. “We went through a few options, and we both decided that Gaga, if we could get her, would be the perfect one because she identifies with Phoebe in so many ways,” Gaga says on the episode. That was a very lovely moment. And Lady Gaga was ecstatic to be a part of it.”

When Winston got a call asking if he was interested in handling the reunion, he was most enthused about meeting creators and producers Marta Kauffman and David Crane, as well as producer Kevin S. Bright. Winston declares, “I’m a TV nerd.” “When I meet producers and writers of shows I grew up watching, they fascinate me far more than movie and television stars.” He also had to propose his ideas to each of the “Friends” cast members, who are also the reunion’s producers.

It was a logistical game of hopscotch to get the cast to shoot at Studio 24. “Studio 24 is one of Warner Brothers’ primary comedy production facilities. It took three weeks to load in and light, ten days to strike out, and three days to shoot,” says the director. Winston responds, “The table reads.” “I thought the take reads were pretty unique. We filmed them with four cameras on a track around them. Because the cameras can’t be in each other’s pictures, it’s a difficult technique to film. It was quite a feat of engineering. It was almost as if we were shooting behind the backs of those mafia lords in the opening scene of “Reservoir Dogs.”
