Concept art for Marvel’s Ms. Marvel has spread on the web. When the Terrigen Mists are unleashed on Earth, Kamala Khan’s powers are triggered, and she is exposed as one of the planet’s latent Inhumans. After gaining “enlarging” abilities, the young girl adopts the moniker Ms. Marvel in honor of her personal hero, Captain Marvel. Regrettably, not all of that provenance will be compatible with the MCU.

Comicbook reported that “It’s interesting, and something we thought about and worked through a lot, which was how do we get each of these really big, exciting heroes space in a two-hour film,” The Marvels helmer Nia DaCosta previously explained of the show. “Captain Marvel has a history from the first film, Kamala will have her Ms. Marvel show, and Monica Rambeau, we’ve only seen her a little bit in WandaVision. A lot of what we’ve been thinking about is what part of the journey do we need to see for each of them? How do we honor the part of the story they’re at in terms of the canon, while also within our story making them equal?”
“Ms. Marvel will still have her embiggening skills,” he asserts, “but it will appear more like…Green Lantern, less Mr. Fantastic.” This makes logical because it will prevent any misunderstanding with Reed Richards when he arrives, but it’s hard not to get the sensation we’re losing out on something great here. The Avengers video game wasn’t very memorable, but watching Kamala in action was a sight that can’t be matched by energy fields.
Ms. Marvel co-creator and producer Sana Amanat told Inquirer. “I think it’s incredibly important that we tell young women and young girls that they have this incredible power within themselves, and that they have heroes out there [who] … they can look up to, especially in these times.”
Ms. Marvel will premiere on Disney+ on 2022.
