W Magazine names Michelle Yeoh, Jennifer Lawrence, Taylor Russell, Austin Butler, Margot Robbie, Jonathan Majors, Cate Blanchett, Brendan Fraser, Michelle Williams, Eddie Redmayne, Ana de Armas, Zoë Kravitz, Daniel Craig, and more as the Best Performances of 2023.
Michelle Williams is best known for her roles in Shutter Island (2010), Oz the Great and Powerful (2013), The Greatest Showman (2017), Venom (2018), and Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021). Michelle will also return in Venom 3 alongside Tom Hardy.
Most recently Michelle starred in Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans. In the film, she plays the role of Mitzi Schildkraut-Fabelman, Sammy’s encouraging mother and a skilled pianist. She is based on Spielberg’s mother, Leah Adler.
Speaking to W Magazine, she was asked “How did the part of Mitzi Fabelman come to you?” Michelle replied, “I got a text saying that Steven Spielberg wanted to get on a Zoom with me. It so shocked me. I couldn’t speak, and I just sort of showed the phone to my husband [director Thomas Kail] so that he could confirm that it said what I thought I had read. Then we jumped, and we cried, and we laughed, and we wondered, and then we Zoomed.”
