An animated ‘Ghostbusters’ series is in development at Netflix with Jason Reitman set to exec produce. The live-action series hails from Sony Pictures Animation, with Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan of Ghost Corps, Inc. on board as executive producers.
The plot details are not yet revealed. Netflix and Ghost Corps, Inc. will be handling the production with Sony’s Columbia Pictures. The official news came during the annual ‘Ghostbusters Day‘ celebration, during which Jason Reitman and Kenan are expected to unveil more about future ‘Ghostbusters’ projects.
Ghostbusters launched its franchise in 1984 with the first film, directed and produced by Ivan Reitman, and written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis. It stars Bill Murray, Aykroyd, and Ramis as Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, and Egon Spengler, followed by ‘Ghostbusters 2’ in 1989, which brought back the original core cast and creative team. Paul Feig helmed the reboot ‘Ghostbusters’ film in 2014. ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’ premiered in November 2021.
