Netflix’s live-action ‘Horizon Zero Dawn’ series will reportedly begin filming in August. In May, PlayStation CEO and President Jim Ryan announced that the company and Netflix were collaborating on a series based on the Horizon video game series. According to The Ronin, Netflix is set to start filming the Horizon Zero Dawn series in Toronto and other locations around Ontario in August and wrap around late March of next year.
According to the game’s official synopsis, In a world where Machines dominate the earth and mankind lives on in primitive tribal societies, one woman sets out to find her destiny among the remnants of the ancient past. As Aloy, you must brave the Machine-infested wilderness and unearth secrets that lie buried deep within the earth. Will you embrace your calling… or pass into oblivion unsung? The player uses ranged weapons, a spear, and stealth to combat mechanical creatures and other enemy forces. A skill tree provides the player with new abilities and bonuses.

Horizon Zero Dawn was the first entry to the series adaptation, it is an RPG developed by Guerilla Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game won numerous awards and sold over 20 million copies by February 2022, making it one of the best-selling PlayStation 4 games. An expansion, The Frozen Wilds, was released in November 2017. A sequel, Horizon Forbidden West, was released for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on 18 February 2022.
Upcoming Netflix video game adaptations include Lance Reddick-fronted Resident Evil series, The Cuphead Show, and the animated Castlevania show.
