The Legend of Candyman is a direct sequel to the 1992 film directed by Nia DaCosta and written by Jordan Peele and Win Rosenfeld.

Tony Todd is back in the lead role as the titular character. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Teyonah Parris, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, and Colman Domingo round out the cast.

The original Candyman, released in 1992, was based on a Clive Barker tale. Helen Lyle (Virginia Madsen) is working on an urban legends thesis when she comes across the legend of Candyman, a vengeful slave spirit with a hook for a hand who can be called by uttering his name times.
