Oliver Jackson-Cohen Told in ‘Mr. Malcolm’s List’ a Gay

Oliver Jackson-Cohen recently revealed that he wanted to make his character in ‘Mr. Malcolm’s List’ a gay. However, director Emma Holly Jones “couldn’t find the right storyline for it”, so “we decided we don’t need to put a label on it” and left it up to Oliver’s acting decisions.

The film is based on Suzanne Allain’s novel of the same name. it follows, A young woman in 1800s England helps her friend to get revenge on a suitor who rejected her for failing a requirement on his list of qualifications for a bride.

Speaking to THR, Oliver Jackson-Cohen said she “couldn’t find the right storyline for it” in the material in front of her, so “we decided we don’t need to put a label on it” and she left it up to Jackson-Cohen’s character decisions. “But we have joked about sequels potentially for Lord Cassidy,” the director says.

The series stars Freida Pinto, Sope Dirisu, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Ashley Park, Zawe Ashton, and Theo James.
