Our Flag Means Death has been renewed for Season 2 at HBO Max. Season 1 premiered on HBO Max in March 2022, after three months of the release HBO Max has been officially announced that the show will be continued with Season 2.

The romantic comedy series was created by David Jenkins. Set in the early 1700s during the Golden Age of Piracy, the series follows the misadventures of aristocrat-turned-pirate Stede Bonnet (Rhys Darby) and his crew aboard the Revenge as they try to make a name for themselves as pirates and cross paths with famed pirate captain Blackbeard (Taika Waititi) and his right-hand-man Izzy Hands (Con O’Neill).

According to the official synopsis, “The series is loosely based on the life of Stede Bonnet. In 1717, Captain Bonnet is an aristocrat who abandons his comfortable life and family to prove himself as a pirate during the Golden Age of Piracy, despite having no aptitude for the role. Sailing aboard his ship the Revenge, Captain Bonnet and his dysfunctional crew struggles to survive against deadly threats from naval warships and other bloodthirsty pirates. During their misadventures the crew of the Revenge cross paths with notorious pirate captain Edward Teach and his crew, including right-hand-man Izzy Hands. Bonnet and Teach subsequently develop an unlikely relationship.”
