Paul Mescal and Joe Alwyn have spotted with a Fan at the Fastnet Film Festival in Ireland. See the image below.
Speaking with British GQ, Joe Alwyn, who plays Nick in Hulu’s adaptation of the 2017 novel, said that he is in a group chat with Paul Mescal, the actor who starred as Connell in the 2020 series Normal People, also an adaptation of a Rooney novel. The name of the chat? The Tortured Man Club.
“which is I guess a reflection on Connell and Nick,” Alwyn said of the histrionic name. After exchanging Tortured Man texts for a while, Alwyn and Mescal finally met IRL on the set of Conversations With Friends in Dublin. “He’s a lovely, lovely guy,” Alwyn said. Given their famous musician girlfriends—Alwyn is dating Taylor Swift, and Mescal has been linked to Phoebe Bridgers—I can’t help but wonder: Are Alwyn and Mescal responsible for the Swift x Bridgers collaboration on Red (Taylor’s Version)? A Tortured Man never tells.
Paul Mescal is an Irish actor best known for starring in the TV adaptation of the Sally Rooney novel Normal People.
Joe Alwyn is best known for roles in critically acclaimed films such as The Favourite (2018), Boy Erased (2018), Mary Queen of Scots (2018), and Harriet (2019). He won the Trophée Chopard at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival.
